Today’s feature is of course out of the ordinary, because I am featuring myself! I most of the time hate being the center of attention but I think it is important for all of my wonderful readers to know why I started Organizing Motherhood. Without further ado I would like to introduce myself!
I have always been a hustler! Ever since I could remember I just couldn’t help myself but to be involved in a multitude of projects at the same time. From going to college full time and working 4 part-time jobs to starting my career with DIRECTV as a Litigation Specialist and working at Fed Ex after hours as a Forensic Accountant. I love working! In a way working and having side businesses has always been my hobby. I don’t have the traditional hobbies like my husband Austin who can do just about everything. A true jack of all trades.
Two main catalysts drove me to start Organizing Motherhood. The first was becoming a mother. It is quite true that your whole world changes once you become a mother. I never took much interest in Googling random things until those middle of the night feeding sessions where I needed to know everything from how to get this baby to sleep to was the sound she is making normal. It was during those late night feedings that my phone became my only glimmer of hope. Blogs became my saving grace. I loved Scary Mommy posts especially because they were so funny and made me smile even though I was exhausted beyond belief.
The more I read Blogs the more I started to enjoy hearing about the opinions of real life mom’s. It wasn’t stale like the books that I was reading about motherhood, in reality it was reality! It was real to the minute advice, complaints and stories that I was able to read and comment on. I just loved the sense of community that some of these Blog had. Plus what else was I going to do to keep myself awake for the 10th feeding that night. These Blogs sparked my idea for my Blog, but it was just an idea. It wasn’t until my daughter was 15 months old that I took action!
The second catalyst for starting Organizing Motherhood and the ultimate motivation behind actually turning my idea into reality was Austin and my never ending search for a home in a safer neighborhood. When we first bought our house in 2007 we were elated to own at such a young age especially in Los Angeles. But our quaint little neighborhood which was home to no one under the age of 50 turned into something far worse. As of late there has not been a single month that the cops have not been called for one thing or another happening on our street. From the broad day light robbery of our neighbors house to the attack of a 12 year old boy walking down the street minding his own business. It’s been a literal nightmare. The once quite neighborhood is now riddled with crime.
Therefore my ultimate motivation for starting Organizing Motherhood was a monetary one for a very altruistic reason – provide a safe neighborhood for my babies to grow up in. That brings me to my family. I have a wonderful husband Austin who is an Aerospace Engineer, a 21 month old baby girl Morgan and i’m currently 8 months pregnant with our baby boy Parker.
Our family is growing and I just love this new chapter of our lives. I am currently working full time for AT&T who acquired DIRECTV as an IT Specialist in addition to running my Mommy Blog. It’s really fun to share my newfound mommy wisdom and my mommy blunders with all of my amazing readers. I love hearing your comments and I would love to know what you think of my Blog. It’s been a super fun journey so far. In fact just this week Organizing Motherhood was named one of the Top 30 Millennial Mom Blogs and Websites for Millennial Moms by Feedspot.com (Feedspot lets you read all your favorite blogs and websites in one place). It is such an honor to be recognized for my Blog and the hard work that I put into it.
I can’t wait to see what my blog becomes 5 years from now! Regardless if it is a success or not. I get to look back on Organizing Motherhood as a true milestone in my life. My milestone of Motherhood! Be sure to follow me on Social Media for future posts!
