How To Explain The Importance Of Memorial Day To Your Toddler

How To Explain The Importance Of Memorial Day To Your Toddler

In March I wrote a super successful post about How to Explain The Spirit Of St. Patrick’s Day To Your Toddler. Then in April I followed it up with How To Explain The Meaning Of Easter To Your Toddler. In May came How To Explain The Importance Of Mother’s Day To Your Toddler. I received overwhelmingly positive feedback for all of these posts. I also learned so much from doing them, and found that I really enjoyed researching and writing them. A recurring comment that I received was that I should create a similar post for each upcoming holiday. I think that is a fantastic idea! I will have to explain each holiday to Morgan anyway, and what a better way than to actually learn the facts behind them. Today I will be sharing with you How To Explain The Importance Of Memorial Day To Your Toddler.

To be honest all I knew about Memorial Day was that it is a Holiday honoring those that served in the armed forces and have since passed. It also commemorates my and Austin’s wedding anniversary. This year Austin and I will be celebrating 10 years! We had an extremely patriotic wedding. It was at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace. We requested every single American Flag that they had on premises. We dined in a replica of the White House East Room. And our guests even got to board and tour Marine One. In my eyes our wedding was absolutely perfect!

But I digress, this post is about Memorial Day and as always I want to know more. Especially because when Morgan does come to an age when she will start asking me what it all means I want to know a little about what I’m talking about. Currently Morgan is still too young to understand fully what I share with her but I wanted to make sure that I did my research so that I can pass on to her the stories and traditions of the many holidays that we celebrate here in America.

I do absolutely love traditions and customs. So I set out to learn as much as I could about Memorial Day and the meaning behind the holiday. Here are the top 7 things that I learned about the importance of Memorial Day. I will use them to explain it to my little Morgan. Thank you so much to my wonderful friend Google. You have steered me in so many interesting directions while researching this history.

5 Of The Best Traveling With Baby Made Easy Finds

5 Of The Best Traveling With Baby Made Easy Finds

It’s been a crazy three weeks. We have successfully completed two full road trips and boy where they fun! First we went to Las Vegas to visit Austin’s cousin and his family. Las Vegas is about a 3 hour drive from Los Angeles. It took us almost 5 hours with all the stops along the way. This past Mother’s Day weekend we went up to Mammoth Lakes to visit my parents. Mammoth is a 6 hour drive from Los Angeles which took us roughly 9 hours with all the baby stops along the way.

We have a few more road trips planned for the remainder of the year and I’m sure we will squeeze in a few unplanned ones as well. Road trips are just a fun, easy and affordable way to travel. Previously I wrote two posts about Road Trip planning with a baby, read them here: How To Love Going On Road Trips With Your Baby and 7 Astoundingly Epic Road Trip Splurges. The best part about Road Trips for me is the bonding that you get to do in the car along the way. You see new things, chat and have sing-a-longs. You also get to discover some cool new restaurants and attractions.

How To Explain The Importance Of Mother's Day To Your Toddler

In March I wrote a super successful post about How to Explain The Spirit Of St. Patrick’s Day To Your Toddler. I will have to explain each holiday to Morgan anyway and what a better way than to actually learn the facts behind them. Today I will be sharing with you How To Explain The Importance Of Mother’s Day To Your Toddler.

To be honest all I knew about Mother’s Day was that it is a National Holiday honoring mothers and motherhood. I am so every fortunate to have become a mother for the 1st time in 2015. Although I have been celebrating Mother’s Day with my own mother for years and years; until today I didn’t know much about the history of this special day.

Morgan is still too young to understand fully what I share with her but I wanted to make sure that I did my research so that I can pass on to her the stories and traditions of the many holidays that we celebrate here in America.

I do absolutely love traditions and customs. So I set out to learn as much as I could about Mother’s Day and the meaning behind the holiday. How To Love Going On Road Trips With Your Baby

How To Love Going On Road Trips With Your Baby

When Morgan was just 7 months old we took our first Road Trip with her. We drove from Los Angeles to Mammoth Lakes. A roughly 6 and half hour trip to visit my parents. With Morgan the trip ended up taking almost 9 hours, but it was well worth the extra time. Morgan was a pure joy in the car, but then again most 7 month old’s are because they tend to sleep most of the time. Here we are today, Morgan is now 16 months old and we will be taking that same Road Trip in just two weeks.

We learned a lot from that first trip. We also learned a lot from several smaller trips we have taken since. Including a three hour disastrous crying frenzy of a trip to Oxnard for a Strawberry Festival. Luckily that trip wasn’t the norm and since then we have learned how to keep an active toddler entertained on a long car ride. In today’s post I am going to share with you How To Love Going On Road Trips With Your Baby.

3 Remarkable Mommy Under The Weather Products That Heal

3 Remarkable Mommy Under The Weather Products To Overcome

Over a month ago I came down with your run of the mill cold. I brushed it off like no big deal, took my vitamins and continued to live my life. Day by day the cold itself faded but a terrible cough developed and lingered. To this day it still lingers. When I stop to think about it I realize that the reason I can never heal is because I never take the time to heal.

As moms we are so concerned with our babies, our husbands and our homes; that we leave so little for ourselves. As I sit here writing this post I am on the first sick day that I have taken for myself this year even though I have been sick a few times. I truly think that if I would have followed my own pre-baby advice I would have been all better by now.

How To Spring Clean Your Bathroom With Baby’s Safety In Mind

How To Spring Clean Your Bathroom With Baby's Safety In MindSpring Cleaning is not only about “Out With The Old” but it’s also about “In With The New.” In today’s post I’m going to be addressing something that I seriously didn’t even think would be an issue until my little Morgan began to walk: Bathroom Safety. She literally gets into everything. She wants to open every single cabinet and drawer. I love it because she is a natural explorer. But I worry that she will find something harmful. Whether it be a small object she can swallow or something toxic that can be hazardous.
